In a tribute to victory acres, war bonds, and heroic efforts in battles and at home, a traveling exhibition commemorating the centennial of the U.S. entry into World War I opens in Rodanthe, NC at the Chicamacomico Life Saving Station at 23645 NC Highway 12 (MP 39.5). Chicamacomico, in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, will present the free exhibit of 10 informational panels and related artifacts through Labor Day. The centennial exhibit has traveled across the state since 2017 and will continue to do so for the remainder of 2018. The Graveyard of the Atlantic in Hatteras, as well as the Life Saving Station, will be presenting a series of centennial events.
